Life is not Good.....
Life is GREAT!

If you are reading this, you are learning Mandarin and you are in luck!

Learning a foreign language is already a privilege, learning Mandarin even more so. It opens up career and travel opportunities. Meeting interesting people, expanding your horizon, buying stuff on-line, talking to many many many more people..since it is the language with the most speakers.

You are lucky also because you are learning Mandarin in a fun way. You are having fun because you like it. Well...ok...I do have some roles in the "fun" part.

Here are the games we do to learn Mandarin: robot dictation, "number calling", "word puzzles", "circle of life", calligraphy, excursions, etc.etc...

Naturally you need to have some basic skills in order to enjoy the games, which is why you need to follow the "Ten Commandents" of our class.

1.Listen carefully to the instructions in class.
2. Have your desk cleared of all things except the textbook, your exercise book and ONE pen.
3. Do not engage in conversation that is distracting you from the lessons.
4. Copy EVERYTHING that is written on the board.
5. Learn for fun, not for the tests. There will be only one big test at the end.,,which is the day you meet a Chinese with whom you must speak Mandarin...or worse, hundreds of them as there happens to be lots...
6. Ask me for new vocabulary relating to you, your family/friends, your favorite activities, your hobby, your dog......anything that interests you. This learning process is about YOU-the most important person.
7. Participate in all projects concerning Chinese cultures.
8. Ask me questions about China and all her mysteries. If I don't know, we will find out together.
9. Sing Chinese songs...even if you know only one so far and it is a Christmas song.
10. Revise at home so we can have more fun with new stuff in class.

Now, you will explore this blog and find activities, games, exercises and homework. You can submit your homework on line or in paper form. You can register your readings and submit it to me. You can also contribute to this blog by sending me a text/presentation of your research on Chinese culture (food, music, dance, festivals, philosophy, etc), your past visits to China, what jobs you would like one day by using your Chinese language skills, etc.

'Apprentissage d'une langue étrangère est un exercice régulier qui exige un minimum de rigueur. Je comprends que l'écriture chinoise puisse prendre du temps et donc être décourageante. Pour que les élèves arrivent à comprendre et parler le plus de chinois possible, je favorise les exercices oraux et les activités aide-mémoires pendant la classe, tout en utilisant les cartes, les images, les jeux créatifs et les exercices amusants. Ce type d'apprentissage ludique privilégie l'élève avant tout. Néanmoins, cette méthode requiert leur attention et, aux mieux, une participation active. les cours se passeront bien si l'élève arrive à écouter et veut apprendre. J'espère donc que les élèves présents sont là par choix ou du moins, ne pénaliseront pas l'apprentissage de ceux qui le sont en faisant du bruit.
